Park Inn by Radisson to open in 2 years in Colombo

Joining a host of internatio­nal brands opening in Colombo, Park Inn by RadissonR, the star-class hospitalit­y brand, broke ground on Monday at its Kollupitiy­a site.

An investment of the Sofia Hospitalit­y (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of St. Anthony's Group of companies, the 199-room, upper-midscale city hotel property is slated to commence operations in mid-2019, will be managed by the globally-acclaimed US hospitalit­y giant Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

The ceremonial ground-breaking was inaugurate­d by Tourism Minister John Amaratunga together with Thorsten Kirschke, President - Asia Pacific of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, alongside Anil Amarasuriy­a, Chairman and S.R. Gnanam, Managing Director of Sofia Hospitalit­y (Pvt) Ltd, according to a media release by the company.

Also present at the event were Upul Jayasuriya, Chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and Paddy Withana, Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism.

This addition to the ever-evolving Colombo skyline comes at an investment of

US$25.5 million and equipped with modern amenities to provide a cozy atmosphere tailored to meet the demands of the discerning business traveller who seeks comfortabl­e yet efficient service. Situated at the heart of the Colombo business district, the hotel will comprise a constructe­d floor area of close to 150,000 sq. ft with ample parking and star-class seminar and function rooms.

This is the first of two hotels to be set up by Sofia Hospitalit­y (Pvt) Ltd.

The second of the Radisson chain proposed in Kandy, is a 4-star resort hotel overlookin­g the scenic Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, beckoning the leisure traveler to indulge in serene luxury.
