Three new CEOs at Sri Lanka's Ogilvy Group
The appointment of three new CEOs for three of its companies was announced last week by the Ogilvy Group, the most diversified and largest marketing and communications enterprise in Sri Lanka.
Sudesh Sundhara Moorthy was named CEO of Phoenix Ogilvy, Manilka Philips as CEO of Ogilvy PR and Sancharitha Jayathilake as CEO of Geometry Global - the activation agency. Sri Lanka’s tea crop is likely to have dropped by 50 million kg in 2016, the biggest drop in recent history, a top tea broker said last week. Production in 2015 was 328 million kg.
As for this year’s outlook, Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC said in a report that the industry is confronted by drought, less fertiliser use and ban on weedicides.
In its outlook for 2017 and production in 2016, the broker said that there is a likelihood of La Nina weather conditions continuing through Q1 2017 and have projected uncertainty over rainfall patterns.
“Failure of the North East Monsoon in Q4 2016 ads further pressure to the already fragile supply situation. Delayed agricultural practices and low application of fertilizer could have an impact on crop intakes in Q2 2017 as well,” the plines have amply proved their mettle and now need to play a more crucial role in the development of the business - with expansion and diversification being the key". Mr. Jayathilake, current Chief Operating Officer of Geometry Global Sri Lanka, with a solid grounding at John Keells and Lanka Orix in senior positions, joined Ogilvy Action as Head of Activation, in 2008. He left to join Sri Lanka Telecom as Head of Sales and Marketing for PEO TV and re-joined Ogilvy Action, now Geometry Global, in 2014.
