‘The total student/youth population (15 to 24 years of age) in the area is over 73,000 as per the census and population statistics of 2012. We understand that this is the very first of a kind programme covering the target area. The programme will be conducted in coordination with the Government Agents and the Schools of the three divisions’ said Gunawardena.

‘JEFMO’ - Job and Education Fair- Moratuwa is focused and a target oriented programme, which will provide a platform for the youth in the area to meet their prospective employers and seek local and overseas educational opportunities and make informed decisions.

‘Job and Education Fair Moratuwa’ (JEFMO) is a start up idea in the lines of EDEX a brand owned by Royal College Union (OBA of Royal).

‘JEFMO is our Brand. The youth population in the area is over 75,000 (Age 15-24). Therefore, we have the potential to build a more focused and target oriented event for all stake holders (Participants and exhibitors). The programme will be done in collaboration with Schools in the DS areas and the District as well. We hope to make this an annual event and derive an income to support the College in Student and Teacher welfare activities’ he added.

‘We need the student Counselors and HR professionals/trainers lecturers who are old boys and their staff on voluntary basis who can discuss and advice the youth on one to one basis how to choose a future career path based on their skills and desires, how to face an interview etc.’ Lester said.

For the second part, ‘JEFMO’ need to get a support of an university/institution to do a psychometric test or any other suitable method to advice the people seeking advice.
