Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia’s biggest tertiary institution, is offering a tailor made study plan for Sri Lankan students, for their Engineering degrees; Ro b o t i c s and Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, at their Vietnam campus, with two years of study at South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine, Sri Lanka.

Key points:

Complete two years of study in Sri Lanka and transfer to RMIT, Vietnam An affordable degree with international exposure State-of-the-art facilities to gain real-world skills Eligible for graduate membership of Engineers Australia, upon graduation. Engage in industry- based projects and industrial placements As a premiere institution for engineering education, RMIT Australia offers a unique opportunity for Sri Lankan students to complete two years of study in Sri Lanka, followed by further two years at their vibrant Asian campus, RMIT Vietnam. Full time Engineering degrees in two disciplines, namely Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering; Electrical and Electronics Engineering, are offered under this partnership. Students will get a unique opportunity to carry out the first two years of study at the partner institute in Sri Lanka and then transfer to RMIT Vietnam to complete the degree program. Graduates of RMIT benefits from the international recognition RMIT has for its programs in engineering and information technology. RMIT’s Engineering program is p rov i s i o n a l l y a c c re d i t e d by Engineers Australia, therefore graduates will be immediately eli- gible for graduate membership of Engineers Australia.

An international experience

The Asian campus of Melbourne- based University RMIT Australia, RMIT University Vietnam, operates with two campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and in Hanoi respectively. Home to more than 6,000 students and staff from more than 25 countries, RMIT Vietnam offers a uniquely diverse learning experience in a vibrant and culturally rich country.

Students at RMIT Vietnam enjoy a range of flexible study and program options, world- class facilities, enthusiastic staff and a host of student clubs and activities that make for an unforgettable experience. Academics at RMIT Vietnam are distinguished by their strong backgrounds in industry and research. With both local and international experience, they provide a dynamic environment in which to learn. This coupled with excellent infrastructure and facilities, including modern labs guarantee an outstanding cutting edge learning experience to students.

State- of- the- art campuses of RMIT Vietnam provide world standard facilities designed to deliver best in student-focused education to equip students with theoretical knowledge, technical skills and practical experience so the students are work- ready when they graduate. In addition, there is an impressive range of extra-curricular activities that encourage students to break new ground in their areas of interest.

Industrial Exposure

The Centre of Technology, at RMIT Vietnam has developed key relationships with industry, including Intel, Datalo gic, ABB, Bosch, eSilicon, IBM Vietnam, SMS Management and Technology, TMA Solutions and East Agile. This connection to industry enables students to work on “real” projects whilst studying. This is especially evident during the internship, when the students are enrolled into industrybased courses that integrate the student’s theoretical knowledge with workplace experience. Students take on a range of finite projects that employers can help identify, while RMIT University Vietnam provides close academic supervision. This gives a richer educational experience and important skills making students more work-ready upon graduation.

Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering

Robotics and mechatronics engineering is at the forefront of technology in our fast-paced, automated world. The study and application of engineering to the design, development, maintenance and management of machinery that has electronic and computer controlled- systems such as aircrafts, robots, motor vehicles, and power generators.

In the RMIT Vietnam’s Bachelor of Engineering ( Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering) (Honours) program, students learn to solve problems in modern laboratories with cutting-edge software and equipment. Along with technical skills and knowledge, they will develop abilities in management, creative thinking, problem solving and communication to prepare for future leadership roles, with expected career positions in industrial robotics or automation design, including careers in related fields such as consumer product design. Robotics and mechatronics engineering graduates generally work with a multidisciplinary team to research, design, develop, maintain and manage high- technology engineering systems for the automation of industrial tasks to make jobs safer, easier, and more efficient. Gradates will begin their careers as engineers and later transition into managerial roles in technology.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The field of electrical and electronics engineering encompasses the technological advances of the last two decades. RMIT Vietnam’s The Bachelor of Engineering ( Electrical and Electronics Engineering) (Honours) is an innovative program that allows students to learn and work on these technological advances. This program is delivered using a Project Based Learning approach which aligns the academic, industry and professional accreditation expectations, where students will work on real-world problems sourced from research, community and industry. Students will learn how to put theory into practice by prototyping electronic designs and experimenting in the laboratory to design and build projects that will prepare them for work in today’s fastpaced, networked world.

Students also have the opportunity to tailor the study program from specialized areas such as, Aviation electronics, Biomedical electronics, Electronic product design, Electrical power, Telecommunications, Microelectronics, Renewable energy and Advanced transport design.

Study in Sri Lanka and Transfer to RMIT Vietnam for third year of study

Commencing from January 2017, RMIT will offer their Engineering degrees in a unique partnership with SAITM Fa c u l t y of Engineering, where students can complete the first 2 years of study at SAITM with the benefit of the home comforts.

The Faculty of Engineering at SAITM is the pioneering and the leading non- state sector institute of engineering in Sri Lanka. Since its inception in 2009, SAITM offered four year full-time B.Sc. in Eng. de g ree programs in Mechat ronics, Electronics, Industrial and Civil Engineering disciplines, with a proven track record in conducting high quality degree programs. To date, more than 500 undergraduate students have entered into successful careers worldwide, both in industry and academia, through SAITM Engineering degree programs. The 9th intake of students for engineering degree programs will commence their undergraduate studies at SAITM Faculty of Engineering in January 2017.

RMIT Vietnam offers globally recognized degree programs in Engineering designed to build creative thinkers that can make a difference in the real world. With this unique partnership between SAITM and RMIT Vietnam, now you can achieve your dream career in Engineering and gain the skills, knowledge and real- world experience you need to become an innovative leader in the cutting- edge world of technology.
