Air Force submerge Kalutara PCC in deep waters

Left and right arm pacies Sahan Jayawarden­a and Milan Priyanath and right arm spinner Achira Ernaga shared seven wickets to put Kalutara PCC in deep trouble when play stopped for lunch on day two in their Premier Tier ‘B’ cricket encounter played against Air Force at the Surrey Village ground, Maggona. Kalutara PCC resuming from their overnight score of 7 for 1were struggling on 100 for 7.

The opening day’s play saw Rosco Thattil slamming a 175 while Lahiru Sri Lakmal made 115 as the duo put on 226 runs for the fourth wicket for Air Force SC. Air Force made a formidable score of 426 for 9 declared.

Lankan CC resuming from their overnight score of 364 for 5 went on to post a mammoth score of 436 in the morning session of play on day two in the match played at Braybrooke Place.

Lankan CC’s score came on the back of a quick fire 133 in 116 balls made by Lakshan Rodrigo and a 96 by Shasheen Fernando who added 215 runs for the second wicket and later in the innings Chanaka Ruwansiri too made a valuable contributi­on of 67.

Navy SC openers Avishka Peiris and Madura Madusanka associated in an unbroken opening wicket stand of 115 runs before the lunch break.

Kalutara TC helped by a knock of 101 by Sulan Jayawarden­a went on to make 307 against Police SC who went into the lunch break on 100 for 2 on day two at the Sooriyawew­a Stadium.

SLPA CC’s left arm orthodox spinner Chanaka Komasaru’s six wicket haul sent Kurunegala YCC continuing from their overnight score of 65 for 3 reeling to a score of 143 in the match played at Kurunegala and SLPA CC in reply were 65 for 2 at lunch break.
