Prof. Ho to deliver the Key Note Address at Launch of CMA Syllabus 2018
The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) was incorporated by an Act of Parliament No.23 of 2009 will launch the CMA Syllabus 2018 on 23rd January 2017, CMA is a Member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)the apex body for the Global Accountancy profession.It is a member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), an Apex body of SAARC, CMA is represented on the SAFA Board. CMA is also a Member of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) consisting of Professional Accounting Bodies in the Asia & Pacific Region.
The CMA Professional Programme is revised every five years to keep abreast of the latest developments in accounting and other allied disciplines. This revision (2018) is designed with the objective of producing competent professional management accountants for the local and global market. Based on consultations with a wide cross section of stakeholders, the new curricula is based on the International Educational Standards set by the International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB)andhas adopted the ‘IFAC Learning Outcomes Approach’ in respect of design, assessment, governance and continuous improvement aspects in a broad learning environment including delivery, timeliness and educator quality. The revised programme is a significant improvement in the focus, structure and organization of course units, their connectivity and the content.
The objective of the CMA Professional Programme is to produce competent management accountants with a global-local outlook needed to meet organizational goals in today’s complex, dynamic and competitive environment. CMA accountants will be able to demonstrate the integration and application of (a) technical knowledge (b) professional skills, and (c) professional values, ethics, and attitudes in their places of work to a defined standard.
The Key Note Speaker Professor Ho Yew Kee is currently the Associate Provost (SkillsFuture and Staff Development) of the latest government university in Singapore, namely, the Singapore Institute of Technology. In his current position, he oversees the training of adults as part of Singapore’s continued development of the workforce (called SkillsFuture). He also oversees the development of the teaching staff at the university.

Master of Economics from Monash University, Australia. He also obtained his Master in Industrial Administration and PhD. from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), USA. He has taught at Monash University, CMU, and currently is professor of accounting at the NUS Business School. Professionally, he is a Fellow CPA Australia and a Chartered Accountant Singapore. In addition, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.
Professor Ho is on the Council of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and is the Chairman of the Membership Committee. He was recently appointed member, Advisory Council, Institute of Certified Management Accountants, Sri Lanka. He is also a director of a listed insurance company in the Singapore Stock Exchange.
Professor Ho is an executive trainer and has taught in many Executive Development Programmes, (for example, Stanford-NUS Executive Programme, MacDonalds, Asahi Glass, DHL, Alcatel-Lucent, Astra, Monetary Authority of Singapore, National Healthcare Group, among others). He also serves as a financial consultant for corporations and expert witness for litigation purposes. His consulting works include valuation of companies, stock options, financial reporting, financial planning and evaluation of companies and internal control designs and systems.
