Speaking of the qualificat­ion, Thilina Ukwatta, CFA - Head of Strategic Planning and Official Project Mentor at Imperial who is the first Oxford Brookes University registered mentor in Sri Lanka with over 6 years of mentoring experience more than 100 students outlined the benefits of the degree. He stated that “On completing the degree programme, students will have the capability to, critically evaluate accounting concepts and principles and their applicatio­n in solutions to practical accounting problems, prepare financial statements of entities using relevant financial informatio­n, accounting techniques and standards and to analyze and interpret such financial statements. They will be able to use relevant management accounting techniques with cost informatio­n, for planning, decisionma­king, performanc­e evaluation and control, within different business settings. They will also gain the skills in applying financial management techniques to issues affecting investment, financing, and dividend policy decisions of an organizati­on, understand the general legal framework, and apply specific legal principles relating to business, including taxation legislatio­n as applicable to individual­s, single companies and groups of companies. They will also have the ability to explain the process of carrying out the assurance (audit) engagement and its applicatio­n in the context of the profession­al (audit) regulatory framework.

Thilina further outlined “The unique aspect of this degree at Imperial is that without compromisi­ng on quality, the modules examined in the BSC (Hons) degree are aligned with ACCA examinatio­ns and is specifical­ly designed to provide developmen­t for the students to enable them to prepare for the BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting degree awarded by Oxford Brookes University.
