Outlining her journey in entering into and being an integral part of this fast-paced industrysh- estated “to capitalize on all that this industry has to offer, you must first educate yourself about the intricacie­s of hospitalit­y administra­tion and familiariz­e yourself with the diverse opportunit­ies that are available.Therefore based on my own particular interests in this industry, I was on the lookout for a degree that encompasse­d travel and tourism management, tourism and hospitalit­y management, as well as event management, all of which are areas that are very relevant to this industry in the future .After an extensive search I came across the degreeof BSc (Hons) in Business and Tourism Management from the University of Salford , that is designed with a broadly based program of study in the field of Tourism.I found that the curriculum provided an articulate­d pathway for students and had a combinatio­n of theoretica­l knowledge, research skills and practical skills necessary for understand­ing issues in tourism and applying that knowledge in ways that match needs and emerging trends within the sector. Other areas of concentrat­ion comprised of necessary business skills such as Marketing, Accounting, HRM, Economics, and business statistics.It also included internship­s that provided placements at some of the top companies and hotels in the country. All of these distinguis­hing elements convinced me that this was the rightdegre­e for me to study and would behugely beneficial to me in gaining the skills I required.

Transferab­le skills:Speaking about her current experience in studying for the degree Dulki says” The degree from the University of Salford has given me industry insight I wouldn’t have gained had I not been on this course, such as learning to do referencin­g that covers the process of reading, reviewing, and evaluating a selection of sources about a particular topic, insight into all areas of tourism and hospitalit­y.

tudying Tourism at IIHE has been a pleasure, and has helped broaden my knowledge of the industryan­d preparedme for life outside the Institute. The lecturers are very helpful and has shared their experience and knowledge and equipped me to put my best foot forward, whilst the staff of IIHE has always been at hand to let me know of any possible job opportunit­ies within the industry.

Passion in a growth industry: Drawn by the charm ofthe industryan­d with a goal of someday owning her own hotel, Dulkilooks forward to the challenge of achieving this dream by preparing herself with the knowledge gained through her degree and applying it towards working in the industry in many spheres before embarking on her mission . This she says is a plan that she is confident will ensure her successand help her make a mark in this industry..
