EDULINK International Campus fosters talent through student engagement in extracurricular activities

-

EDULINK International Campus is a private higher education institute that offers degrees from prestigious Universities in the UK such as Greenwich and Northampton and top ranked HND’s from the Scottish Qualification Authority ( SQA ), whilst at the same time providing a host of interesting high-quality extracurricular activities and a wellrounded education to build life skills essential to future career success.

Amongst these activities are The Rotaract Club of EDULINK International Campus (RCEIC) that has carried out many worthy CSR activities from keeping our environment clean through beach clean ups, blood donation programmes, helping the elderly and developing the talents of youth through many fun filled, knowledge building activities thereby fostering team spirit, time management, leadership skills and helping to unleash the talents of their students.

Providing perfect platforms for honing the spirit of entrepreneurship, EDULINK has also hosted events such as “Entrepreneur Day” where undergraduate students were trained to think out of the box and to come up with and present ideas and plans on making profits for a product through sales.

Giving their students a global perspective on innovation, EDULINK Campus has provided students with exciting opportunities through Experience Labs to be a part of InnovFest Unbound 2016 at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, where they were exposed to a weeklong series of events that showcased Asia’s most innovative developments in the media-tech sphere.

EDULINK Students also take part in many sports activities that include Cricket, Basketball, Football and Handball.

EDULINK believes that academic subjects and extra-curricular activities complement each other and develop well-rounded, socially skilled, students who will be sought after by employers in leading organizations both locally and globally, making them more viable in the job market. These activities also helps students mature socially and improves their interpersonal skills. They also learn to link academic knowledge with practical experience, thereby leading to a better understanding of their own abilities, talents, and career goals.

Director of EDULINK International Campus, Mr. Kanishka Weeramunda commented “We do not believe in just producing one-dimensional students in our campus but instead use extra-curricular activi- ties to help to develop the student. We have found that students who are involved in extra-curricular pursuits tend to improve their academic grades. They become better organized in the classroom and demonstrate a heightened sense of confidence in all their pursuits that achieve better results. They learn useful new skills from their chosen activity and in integrating these activities into their everyday campus life, they learn critical thinking, teamwork and social skills. They develop relationships with their peers and learn how to lead others. All of these skills will be beneficial to them in life later and in the workplace.”

With their aim of offering graduates the very best in soft skills training and a well-rounded education, EDULINK International campus hopes to continue their quest in giving their students opportunities to engage in a range of well thought out activities that will in turn teach them the values of individual and group responsibility, endurance, competition and diversity and promote positive characteristics to bring out their hidden talents and the best of their abilities.
