LSASL, ALSA (Sri Lanka Chapter) installation ceremony on Jan.26
The installation ceremony of the Law Students Association of Sri Lanka (LSASL) and the Asian Law Students Association (ALSA) (Sri Lanka Chapter), took place on January 26.
The LSASL is a non-political and non-profit body representative of the entire Law students populace in Sri Lanka, committed to the ideals of Legal Scholarship and Social Responsibility.
They are also the National Chapter of ALSA, which is an amalgamation of Law students across 15 Asian countries. The LSASL also partners the Australian Law Students Association (ALSA) and the European Law Students Association (ELSA).
Established in 2009 by the late Judge C.G. Weeramanthry, to date, LSASL is the only student association representing all private and governmental Legal Education institutions.
The event was presided by Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya P.C., with President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) Geoffrey Alagaratnam and other distinguished, Senior Lawyers in attendance.
The newly appointed Board of the National Council for the year 2016- 2017 is:
LSASL President & ALSA Sri Lanka President Madhava De Alwis, LSASL Vice President Shemal Fernando, LSASL Secretary & ALSA Sri Lanka Secretary General, Ms Navodanie Ratnatilake, LSASL & ALSA Sri Lanka Treasurer Ms. Shakya Wickramanayake, and LSASL & ALSA Sri Lanka Editor-inChief, Joshua Surendraraj.
