If at all possible, check the specs of the room where you'll be speaking. Is it football stadium big or conference room big? What about the sound system? If you'll be using a microphone, it's a good idea to test it beforehand. Also check the multimedia projector. The more familiar you are with your environment, the more comfortable you'll be at the podium.
