BnS, Billy Fernando and 2Forty2, Hector Dias, Umaria and Voice.Print are the stars who will perform together at “Pulse of the Heartians” on April 22 at the BMICH at 6.30 p.m.

The musical show is organized by the Sisters of Charity, Galle, with support from past pupils of Sacred Heart Convent, Galle to fund the renovation of the Chapel of the Sisters of Charity.

“Everyone we have reached out to has supported us in every possible way, because the cause is genuine and deserving,” says Nilmini Ferdinando, a member of the fourperson organizing team.

BnS will perform their top hits “Mal Pen Podak”, “Hitha Nambara Thaleta”, “Hini Peththata” and “Sara Sihina” including recent releases. “Re Ahase”, is among the favourites by Billy Fernando which he will perform for the evening. 2Forty2 have a variety of covers lined up, ranging from local pop and baila favourites such as “Liyathambara”, “Master Sir” and “Kandy Lamissi” to more recent international hits like “Rude”. Hector Dias will perform originals as well as Clarence covers including “Kumariyak Way” and “Mage Pelpathe”. Umaria will join the popular duo onstage for “Gum Nade” and “Pathu Pem Pathum” among other numbers while Voice.Print will perform their best loved covers, starting with their hit favorites “Gayu Gee” and “Pem Lowey”. The host for the evening will be Clifford

Richards.

The Sister of Charity first came to Sri Lanka from Belgium in 1896 and set up Sacred Heart Convent for Ggirls and many charitable causes such as the Van Reeth Home for Elders in Galle, homes for differentlyabled children, orphans and elders in Ratnapura, Hikkaduwa, Nugegoda, Moratuwa and Kegalle.

“People may ask why the chapel and not these homes or the school,” Ferdinando points out. “But the chapel is the centre of what they do. The Sisters of Charity have sacrificed their lives for us, so this is the least we can do for them.”

Construction of the chapel was begun in 1920. Over the years, due to lack of funds, the chapel was not maintained at its best. It was only in 2015 that renovations were proposed, in light of the approaching 120th anniversary of the Sacred Heart Convent. Part of the renovation costs have aslready been covered by The Papal Fund, the Past Pupils’ Association of Sacred Heart Convent, and well-wishers. Further support has been given by past pupils’ associations of St. Aloysius’ College, Richmond College, Mahinda College, Holy Family Convent, Lighthouse Hotel, Gerard Mendis Chocolatier, Prasanna Jayakodi (designer), Singer, Litro Gas, Derana, Ananmanan.lk and many generous individuals.
