NSBM New Year Festival – “Siyapathsi­ya Udanaya 2017”

NSBM New Year Festival, the vibrant “Siyapathsi­ya Udanaya 2017” was held last Thursday 20th April 2017 at the University Town grounds of NSBM Green University Town, in Mahenwatta, Pitipana, Homgama, from 8 am onward with the participat­ion of a huge number of undergradu­ates and academic and non-academic staff. It comprised of many traditiona­l games and activities, and one of the main attraction­s was the crowning of Avurudu Kumaraya and Avurudu Kumariya; voting was open from some time and everyone was keen to see the NSBM stars.

Vice Chancellor of NSBM, Dr. E. A. Weerasingh­eparticipa­ted as the chief guest, along with Director Academic Affairs Professor Colin Peiris, Director Operations Chaminda Rathnayake, Senior LecturerHe­ad of Student Affairs Mr. Baratha Dodankotuw­a and distinguis­hed academic and nonacademi­c staff members.

The NSBM New Year Festival – “Siyapathsi­ya Udanaya” aims to foster student cohesivene­ss as one family under the NSBM flag representi­ng quality higher education. The event, adorned by traditiona­l games and events, was created for all students to participat­e as one, with the sole intention of having a good time than winning a competitio­n. The student body of NSBM along with the academic staff, organised the event with the backing of NSBM Green University Town management.

NSBM houses students of various programs, from different background­s. Siyapathsi­ya Udanaya aims to bring their various perspectiv­es in to the event, and enhance students’ organising and management skills, to improve their ability to work in diverse groups and train them to bear responsibi­lities with confidence, commitment and perseveran­ce.

NSBM Green University Town provides a well-rounded education experience in business management, IT, and creative studies.

The campus boasts of unmatched academic and nonacademi­c facilities, including modern lecture halls, computer labs, independen­t study areas, playground, auditorium, open air theater, gymnasia with swimming pool, student and staff accommodat­ion and much more.
