Regent celebrates Avurudu

All traditiona­l customs of the New Year were carried out both in Sinhala and Tamil and several Avurudu songs set to dance were part of the program.

The Sinhala Hindu Avururdu celebratio­n of Regent Internatio­nal College, Gampaha took place on 06th April 2017 in the College premises. The famous veteran stage and drama actress Ms. Awanthi Aponso witnessed this event as the Chief Guest together with the school Principal Ms. C. Wickrama Arachchi.

She was quite impressed by the fact that an Internatio­nal College where all curricular and extra curricular activities are conducted in English medium, being able to remind the students and parents of the importance of inculcatin­g cultural values.

Further she marked that Regent Internatio­nal College is outstandin­g and special in fulfilling that task.

All traditiona­l customs of the New Year were carried out both in Sinhala and Tamil and several Avurudu songs set to dance were part of the program.

In this year also, the students announced the Avurudu program in all three languages Sinhala, Tamil and English. The students of the College from Nursery to Year 13 took part in various Avurudu games such as Fancy dress, Jana Gee, Singithi Avurudu Kumara Kumariya and many more. Not only for students, some games were held for teachers and for parents.

Traditiona­l sweetmeats from both Sinhala and Tamil cultures were served to all the participan­ts in the celebratio­ns. In this year Singithi Avurudu pola was held to fund the function by the Primary and Pre Primary section of the College.
