Visakha and SL Army well poised to win overall titles
Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo are well placed to clinch the championship in the Girls section halfway on the second day of the National Intermediate Swimming Championship 2017 at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex yesterday.
Visakha Vidyalaya with 127.50 points heads the Girls section followed by Musaeus College Colombo (99), Sri Lanka Army (78), Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya (66) and St. Anthony's Girls College Kandy (52) points and in the Boys section Sri Lanka Army are at the helm with (170 points) while St. Joseph's College, Colombo, St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa, Ananda College, Colombo and Royal College Colombo with 131, 57, 51 and 46 points occupy the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places respectively.
Ten finals were completed at the time of going to press on the second day of this three day event were won by T. Sandesna Perera of Sirimavo Bandaranayake Balika, Colombo (Girls Under-13 50m Breaststroke), S. Ranaweera of Trinity College, Kandy (Boys Under-13 50m Breaststroke),Samamtha Tappin of Elizabeth Moir School (Girls Under-15 50m Breaststroke), H. Dassanayake of Ananda College (Boys Under-15 50m Breaststroke), R.A.C. D. Kumarihamy of DVP (Girls Under-18 50m Breaststroke), Gavika Heenatigala of Royal Institute (Boys Under-18 50m Breaststroke), Isiwaruna De Silva of Royal College, Colombo (Boys Under18 and Over 50m Breaststroke), J. Perera of BC (Girls Under-13 100m Butterfly), Bimsara Galappaththy of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda (Boys Under-13 100m Butterfly), S.S. Wanigasekera of Dharmaraja College, Kandy (Boys Under-15 100m Butterfly), and P.U. Jayasekera of RGC (Boys Under-18 100m Butterfly Stroke).
Finals of 50m Breaststroke, 200m Backstroke, 100m Free Style and 50m Butterfly of all age groups are scheduled to be worked-off yesterday evening.
The championship will come to a close today at the same venue.
