The PIM Alumni installati­on of the Chairman & the Board of Directors 2017/18

The PIM Alumni, the profession­als’ associatio­n of the prestigiou­s Postgradua­te Institute of Management, affiliated to the University of Sri Jayewarden­epura, recently concluded the official installati­on of their PIMA Associatio­n ( PIMA) Chairman and Board of Directors for the Year 2017/ 18, at the Grand Oriental Hotel ceremoniou­sly.

The Chief Guest at this exclusive event was Professor Ajantha S. Dharmasiri, the Director of the Po s t g raduat e Institute of Management, who is also the Patron of PIMA. This ceremony was graced by Past Presidents and several senior PIMA members who were there to wish the new Chairman and the Board a year full of success.

The members of PIMA are profession­als who have completed their Masters and Doctoral studies at the Po s t g raduat e Institute of Management (PIM). PIMA claims of having the largest number of Profession­als in the country, with over 2000 active members who holds MBA, MPA & PhD from the Institute with many members holding senior managerial positions both in the Private and the Public sector organizati­ons.

At this event Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri gave his blessings as the Patron of the associatio­n to the Chairman and his Board of Directors and stated that he has every confidence that the Chairman would lead the way for a higher standard for PIMA. The Immediate Past Chairman Mr. Chamila Bandara said, “He has no doubt that the new board would do their utmost to keep the PIM flag flying high”.

During the span of two decades PIMA has become a formidable force changing the way businesses are seen and operated in the most profession­al and the ethical way possible in keeping to the vision of PIM. The main objective of PIMA is to represent the values and ethics of the Institute and to see that these are maintained and reinforced by the members through continuous support to develop and foster their man- agement skills over the years to come. PIMA has played a pivotal role in organising public forums for discussing various timely topics related to Management, Education, Industry, Finance, Economics and Social Developmen­t for the benefit of their members and the general public.

Mr. Nishantha Gunasekara, Chairman 2017/18 assured, “With the great team appointed to the board this year, I have no doubt that we can take PIMA to the next level. We will develop a strategic plan for the next three years for the benefit of the Alumni and the future leaders of PIMA. The programs and activities this year are conceptual­ised under a three cluster model namely; Communicat­e, Perform and Govern. This will be our blue print for this year, especially with the ‘ Perform Cluster’ covering the elements; Learn, Explore, Play, Share and Reward”.

PIMA continues in conducting C o n t i n u o u s D ev e l o p m e n t Programmes ( CPD) with a speaker panel consisting of prominent and renowned senior alumni who are respected in the Private and Public sector organisati­ons. The PIMA Dinner Dance and the PIMA Cricket Fiesta are some of the entertaini­ng annual events conducted by PIMA to encourage fellowship and social networking for the Alumni on an annual basis. This year PIMA hopes to launch the ‘ Corporate Leadership Discussion Forum’ which will attract the senior and elite group of the business fraternity of the country to build awareness of concerning areas of business and to provide a forum to discuss and resolve issues that the fraternity as a whole experience.

The flagship event of PIMA is the PIMA National Management Awards, the annual event which emerged from the popular PIMA Platinum H o n o u r s. PIMA Nat i o n a l Management Awards recognises the significan­t and outstandin­g contributi­ons done by the PIMA and nonAlumni members for the management of organisati­ons and also for the Socio-economic developmen­t of the country.
