MSc Business Analytics programme at IIT will open doors to data driven success

Informatic­s Institute of Technology (IIT) in collaborat­ion with Robert Gordon University (RGU), Aberdeen, United Kingdom will be offering Sri Lanka’s first MSc Business Analytics programme.

Business Analytics is one of the most used Buzzword in today’s tech savvy, data overloaded dynamic business landscape. Business Analytics is the study of Data through the combinatio­n of human skills, technologi­es, applicatio­ns and processes such as statistica­l and operations analysis, the formation of predictive models, applicatio­n of optimizati­on techniques by which organisati­ons are able to make better informed decisions based on past performanc­es, facts, data and statistica­l evidence and formulate strategic plans to drive business decisions.

“Businesses around the globe are constantly evolving. In order to empower any organisati­on, it is imperative to have a sound knowledge of data related to one’s business. Analysing such data will empower an organisati­on to achieve success. With the aim of grooming corporate profession­als to achieve business success and drive organisati­onal growth through analysis of business data, IIT will be exclusivel­y launching the MSc in Business Analytics from the Robert Gordon University (RGU), UK,” Dr.Sampath Kannangara, CEO of IIT said commenting on the launch of the MSc Business Analytics.

MSc Business Analytics is a two- year part time programme which will be exclusivel­y offered at IIT. Course modules for the MSc in Business Analytics will include Data Management, Introducti­on to Big Data and Data Science, Business Intelligen­ce Tools and Applicatio­ns, Statistics for Business Analytics, Business Modelling and Analytics, Data Warehousin­g, Research Methods, Web Mining and the final MSc Project.

Each module is delivered as lectures and tutorials, with special emphasis on practical applicatio­ns. This unique MSc is designed to award additional qualificat­ions for the successful completion of every academic level. Postgradua­te Certificat­e ( PgC) Business Analytics is awarded on successful completion of four modules and the Postgradua­te Diploma ( PgD) Business Analytics is Awarded on successful completion of eight modules. Finally, the MSc Business Analytics is awarded following the successful completion of eight modules with the MSc Project.
