Hertz tie-up with Andrew car rental to serve corporate and tourist clients

Three new rental car brands viz Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty were launched in Colombo following the signing of a multi-brand partnershi­p agreement between Hertz Global Holdings Inc and a local franchise partner - The Andrew Car Rental Company (Pvt) Ltd.

The event was held in Colombo last week and coincided with the launch of a donation to be made to the "" Sinha Salsewana" girls’ orphanage. Hertz Executive D i re c t o r A s i a , D i n o o s h i Kariyawasa­n said Hertz's premium brand include a choice of cars such as Mercedes Benz, BMW and Toyota Premium. Under the Dollar brand cars, Maruti and Wagon are offered to suit local customer preference­s at a discounted rate.

Thrifty offers an affordable package that include cars like Toyota Axio, etc. "Hertz is a franchise that originated in the US and we offer self- drive and chauffeur-driven vehicles on a three day minimum under the self-drive category. We offer customers long term rental of cars as well for a month or two provided customers have the necessary documentat­ion. For foreign visitors we offer chauffeur- driven vehicles under the Hertz umbrella,” she said adding that all three brands of Hertz have been launched in Sri Lanka for the first time by The Andrew Car Rental Company, "At the moment we have 30 vehicles in our fleet and hope to expand the number in the future," she said.

Hertz Corporatio­n, a subsidiary of Hertz Global Holdings, have incorporat­ed the Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty and Firefly vehicles in 9700 corporate and franchise locations throughout North America, Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, West Asia, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Hertz is one of the largest worldwide airport use vehicles rental companies and Hertz brand is one of the most recognized in the world.

Mahen Kariawasam, Managing Director of The Andrew, Car Rental Company said "We are delighted to operate Hertz, Dollar and Thrift in Sri Lanka. We are fully committed to provide a high quality service to different custom- er segments and deliver a high global standard these brands are known well”.

He said the service will be extended to the Colombo Internatio­nal Airport and another downtown location by early 2018. “As the country is experienci­ng a booming growth in tourism and an increase in internatio­nal investment­s, we believe the new agreement will be rewarding for our customers and its employees.”

Director Franchise Asia Pacific, Nick Waring said his responsibi­lity involves supporting the growing number of franchises in the world. He said Sri Lanka is a much sought after popular tourist destinatio­n and Hertz's affiliatio­n with Andrew is aimed at serving its potential customers.
