Jaffna Food Festival at Grand Oriental Hotel

Grand Oriental Hotel announced that a buffet of Jaffna cuisine will be offered to food lovers from June 22 to July 1st, 2017 at Harbour Room, the Hotel’s famous Internatio­nal Restaurant.

The Hotel revealed that the menu has been designed to offer a vast range of Jaffna cuisine. Food lovers will be able to experience the uniqueness of the famous dishes of Jaffna. The tongue will be able to detect six tastes (Yal Suvai), that is, sweet; salty; bitter; sour; astringent and pungent.

The Jaffna Cuisine buffet will be prepared by Chef Chandru, who has an extensive knowledge and experience in traditiona­l Jaffna Cuisine preparatio­n.

Grand Oriental Hotel stated that a variety of dosa, pittu, curries, kottu and other traditiona­l Jaffna food items will be offered during the buffet period.

“Our aim is to offer an insight into Yaripana Samayal (Jaffna cooked food) especially for the guests who have not had the opportunit­y to get the feel of this cultural food. Also this is one of great opportunit­y for all in Colombo within few minutes’ drive away [who] can experience the delicious Jaffna cuisine,” said the General Manager of GOH, Lalin Adhikari.

The hotel took the opportunit­y to invite food lovers to come and experience the Jaffna Food Promotion.
