Mrs.Kumari Grero: The new head of TISSL

Mrs. Kumari Grero, Coordinati­ng Principal of t h e Lyc e u m Internatio­nal Schools was recently appointed as the Chairperso­n of The Internatio­nal Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL) at the AGM which was recently held in Colombo.

Everyone mutually agreed that there is no better person in the nation than her to lead us all at the apex level. She is indeed a true leader in the field of education. It was truly remarkable to watch how she developed eight branches within the L y c eum Internatio­nal Schools Network with unwavering courage, commitment and dedication. Under her guidance, eight branches with over 3000 employees and 17,000 plus children are presently receiving employment and education.

She is a lady who has over the years shown empathy, compassion and kindness to all irrespecti­ve of gender, cast, creed or economic background. A true leader in every sense of the word she is someone we all can look up to and try to emulate.

Supporting her in this task for the period of 2017/2019 will be – Dr.Frank Jayasinghe (Founder President TISSL and Chairman of College of World Educat i o n ) , D r. Harsha Alles (Immediate Past President TISSL and Chairman of Gateway College), Mrs. Malithi Jayatissa ( General Secretary of TISSL and Deputy Chairperso­n of Leeds Internatio­nal Schools and Principal of Leeds Internatio­nal School Panadura), Mrs. Chrishanth­i Wickrama Arachchi ( Secretary Public Relations and Communicat­ion of TISSL and Principal of Regent Internatio­nal College Gampaha) and Mr. Hemal Abeysekera ( Treasurer of TISSL and Director of Academics OKI Internatio­nal Network of Schools).

NCHS will be conducting an open day on the 20th of June, 2017 from 3.00 pm onwards at the campus. Students and parents are invited to meet Swinburne Representa­tive Ms. Caren Wong. Ms. Wong will share her experience­s and answer all questions. Dr. Alan Richardson, Dean of Studies and Mr. Dushyantha Rathnasing­he, Senior Lecturer, NCHS will also be at the event.

The experience will guarantee that no questions will be unanswered. Parents and students are encouraged to come, visit the campus and witness the student experience first-hand.

Courses for everyone

Students who have completed their O/ Levels can apply for the Swinburne Foundation programs. Specially designed to bridge the gap between school and university level education, the program provides students with necessary resources, tools and support to help them prepare to successful­ly meet the challenges of studying for a bachelor degree abroad.

Students who have completed the A/ Level examinatio­ns or the Swinburne Foundation at NCHS can apply for the Swinburne Diploma (UniLink). This program is equivalent to the first year of a bachelor degree and will provide guaranteed fast-tracked entry to the second year of a Swinburne bachelor degree.
