General Secretary- EP Tamil Teachers Association, S. Jeyaraja, condemning the action, said the transfers not only disturbs the students, but also cause inconvenience to the teachers and their families. "Some of them have sought court assistance to stay the transfers," he said.

Some Ampara District teachers had obtained a court order to stay their transfers.

"As a union, we appeal to the Govt to have a clear policy, when they decide on such transfers," he added.
