Sri Lanka’s young design students in France

-

From Colombo to Paris with a whole heap of dreams started the 3rd annual study tour of the Mod’Art fashion design students from Sri Lanka. Unlike any other fashion schools in the island, Mod’Art has its unique structure of education which allows its young and growing designers to explore the fashion capitols of the world.

The main aspect behind the study tour is for the imminent fashion creators to visually educate themselves on the leading international brands. This visit allows them to explore not only on fashion garments, but also perfumes, accessories, food, culture and many more.

The group of students stepped into various places in Paris to discover and experience the history of fashion and how it has stimulated the industry and its way forward.

Tour began with their lectures at Mod’Art Paris in study areas such as Trend Analysis, Brands & Designers and The Fashion Business.

The visits for 2017 had some unique places that was toured for students. Emphasizing on conceptual stores, Museums, Exhibitions and world famous Shopping malls. Last but not the least the street of luxurious brands Champs-Elysees.

This year’s tour included a visit to Musée Bourdelle which displayed 50 years collection of Balenciaga as a tribute to Cristóbal Balenciaga who was known as the couturier of the couturiers. The exhibition was on Silhouette & Volumes, Blacks & Lights and Blacks & Colors. For Balenciaga black was more than a color. Black conjugated through a hundred pieces from the archives of the Balenciaga House.

The next highlight of the tour was the visit to Le Grand Musée du Parfum. This museum offers everyone the opportunity to better decipher the artistic intention of the perfumes and the creative process that follows. It is accompanied by experts, scientists and artists that the Great Museum of Perfume has implemented a series of programs to raise awareness of the richness and fragility of this intangible heritage. The strength of Mod’Art International Sri Lanka is that it is the fashion education venture in the country that offers a promised foreign exposure while studying, which is very limited by others. It’s become the institute’s responsibility in educating the budding designers with a vast knowledge of the fashion arena. Mod”Art International Paris ventured in Sri Lanka in the year 2015 offering Bachelors in Fashion Design Degree.
