Your favourite 'Sound of Music' and more at concert in aid of cancer patients

‘Sound of Music’ -the fifth in a series of musical shows which Managing Director and Chairman of Symphony (Pvt.) Ld, Dushyantha Abeygunawa­rdene has been organising for charity, will be held on July 29 at the BMICH. The shows are in aid of cancer patients.

This year, the concert and sing along, ‘Sound of Music’ will be held with the choir of Subashini Talwatte, performing the songs from the all time favourite musical ‘The Sound of Music”. Sohan and the X-periments, one of Sri Lanka’s leading music groups with Trishell will be showcasing hits from 50s, 60s and 70s, both Western and Lankan songs. Vocalist Judy de Silva along with JJ Twins will add colour to the show. All the artistes will be performing for the night, free of charge.

“This would undoubtedl­y be a show for the entire family. The kids will enjoy the songs from “The Sound of Music” while the parents would love to hear Jim Reeves, Elvis Presley, Abba along with Clarence, Indrani, Milton and many more,” Dushyantha says.

All proceeds of the show will be donated to the Pediatric Ward of the National Cancer Hospital. “The funds will be used to purchase a TITANPORT A/V Small Implantabl­e Port Catheter Systems,” says Dushyantha.

There will be competitio­ns and exciting prizes.

‘Sound of Music’ will be held on Saturday, July 29 at the BMICH Banquet Hall at 7.p.m. Tickets priced at Rs.2000 inclusive of buffet dinner and song book, will be available at Symphony (Pvt.) Ltd, 438/2, Havelock Road, Colombo 6.
