Suriyage protests about CFSL three member committee

- By Susil Premalal

The President of the Mountain Biking Association (MBA) Amal Suriyage has written to the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) protesting against the appointment of a three-member committee by the Ex-Co of the CFSL to scrutinise eligible clubs/associations for the CFSL AGM which will be held on August 31.

The letter addressed to the Chairman/Secretary of the CFSL states the current administration has violated all the rules and regulations of the CFSL Constitution and over and above the Sports Act of Sri Lanka.

The letter further states that the CFSL Ex-Co have gone beyond the sports ethics and human rights by running the affairs of the CFSL by violating fundamental rights and privileges of the Member Clubs as enshrined in the Constitution of the CFSL.

The President of the MBA also totally reject and condemn the act of the CFSL Ex-Co which grossly violate the CFSL Constitution by adopting decisions that can be only taken by the Council of the CFSL.

In his letter copied to all clubs and associations Suriyage has condemned this act of violation of their rights enshrined in the constitution and has requested from the CFSL to take appropriate action to revise this decision and called for an emergency Special General Meeting to take up this fundamental issue.

The President of the MBA also notes that if no solace is meted to all clubs who have been disqualified by this arbiter ally unconstitutional act by the Ex-CO they would take appropriate action deemed necessary to win back the rights as legal affiliated clubs and associates of the CFSL.
