Leadership development programme for teens

-

We want our children to succeed in life and become the leaders who could take this country forward into the future. The country needs resourceful youth who are able to face these future challenges. In an attempt to help the country’s youth to become the leaders we all are looking for, Dr. Prabath Karunanayake, an experienced corporate trainer and human capacity building expert, has designed and delivered an once-in-a-lifetime leadership experience for 12-18 year-olds called Leaders of Tomorrow.

This programme is a unique leadership development experience for teenagers and has a perfect balance of classroom-type learning, creative challenges, mental challenges and outdoor fun games. The children will find answers to some pertinent questions such as ‘Are you a leader?’, ‘Do you know who you are?’ and ‘Are you being your best?’ Through this deeper understanding they will be guided to create a visual image of who they are and who they want to become. There are many activities the participants have to complete after the programme and there will be a six-month follow-up session, with the participation of the parents, to make sure the learnings are properly internalized and converted into fruitful actions.

A sixteen- year- old from a leading school in Colombo, who took part in the very first Leaders of Tomorrow programme in December 2015 has said, ‘I found out the hidden leadership that was inside me and developed lot of my skills. It was a very useful programme for all the future leaders and I strongly recommend it for my friends to take part’. Another participant from an international school in Balangoda has said, ‘This was an amazing programme where we got to the opportunity to learn so much important stuff, and had a wonderful time’. These comments highlight the impact Leaders of Tomorrow programme has had on the participants.

The fifth and sixth repeat of the programme is scheduled for the August school holidays. The programme could also be organized exclusively for a particular school either at the normal venue which is a 47-acre picturesque training facility up in the hills near Kegalle or at the school premises itself. Dr. Karunanayake can be contacted on 077-695-6701 or prabath1971@yahoo.com for details.
