‘ Funvention 2017’ – that promises a fiesta of fun for the family will be held on September 1, 2 and 3 ( Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at the Thurstan College Cricket Grounds. The fun fair will have many attraction­s including a ‘ Mini Jurassic Park’, a ‘Learning Zone’ – for the entire family, Music and fun and entertainm­ent zones.

Travel back in time at the “Mini Jurassic park“in the country, get your selfie with a life size dinosaur that won’t eat you; roam around in the magical “Land of Princesses & Super Heroes”. And there’s more - story telling, magic shows, jugglers and plenty of games.At the Learning Zone, there will be career guidance sessions, Fashion Styling and ‘ Fashion Shoots by the Academy of Design (AOD); Jazz Ballet by Colombo School of Ballet; Arts & Crafts workshop and Storytelli­ng by renowned storytelle­r Sybil Wettasingh­e in person; a poetry and drama workshop with Jananath Warakagoda; Chemical Hocus Pocus by the Sri Lanka Institute of Chemistry; Zumba sessions for kids by Sasani Fernando; game zones and aircraft simulation­s by Asian Aviation Center and much more.

The entertainm­ent zones will include a fabulous fashion show by Academy of Design (AOD), performanc­es by well-known artistes, space to dance to the tunes of ‘ Yes FM’ and ‘ Sirasa’ DJs, an artisan “House of Horrors” designed by AOD and, thrilling carnival rides. Buy your tickets in advance to avoid queues.
