Textbooks and transportation are free for pre-primary and basic education, with a daily meal remaining either free or subsidized by the state throughout education. Furthermore, there are no national testing or school ranking lists to create competitiveness, as students are encouraged to enjoy learning rather than think in terms of grades.

Every child has the right for Early Childhood Education and Care between the ages of 0 and 6, while their guardians are working or studying. This primarily comprises of day- care centers and in family day-care.Mandatory pre-primary school starts at the age of six, with compulsory basic education beginning at the age of seven, encompassingnine years. The late start allows small children to focus on playing and being kids. To ensure fair access, no school selects their own students, and a national core curriculum maintains the equal standard for each school. Small amount of homework and 15 minute brakes after each 45 minute lecture are standard. After basic education, students have the option of general or vocational upper secondary education, lasting approxi- mately three years and providing eligibility for higher education.
