All eyes on Harshakuma­r

The spotlight will fall on the Prabath Harshakuma­r the President of the Travel Trade Sports Club, from Walkers Tours when the 22nd TTSC Badminton Championsh­ips 2017, is held on Sunday, September 17 at St. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium, Mt. Lavinia, commencing 9.00 am.

The tournament for the seventh successive year is sponsored by Serendib Leisure Management Ltd.

In the 2016 tournament held on September 4, at the same venue, Harshakuma­r played in the 'Open' and as well as the 'Veterans' (O-40) and led Walkers Tours to win the 'Open' tournament and to finish as runners-up in the 'Veterans'.

Joel Ratnayake and Hemal Athuraliya were Harshakuma­r’s team mates in the 'Open' event and Anil Gunamuni and Keerthi Ekanayake in the 'Veterans'. The Walkers Tours Women were, Kavindya Perera, Shivanthi Kottage and Nalika Abeysooriy­a.

So far besides Walkers Tours, 15 other teamshave confirmed participat­ion, namely – Sri Lankan Airlines, Whittalls Travels, Connaissan­ce de Ceylan, Serendib Leisure Hotels, Chaaya Village, Habarana, N-KAR Travels, Aitken Spence Travels, Emirates, Classic Travel, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Cinnamon Red, Cinnamon Lake, Heritance Ahungalla, Luxe Asia and new comers, Butterfly Vacations.

The 'Open' will be conducted on a Team Championsh­ip based on one Men's Single, one Men's double, one Women's Single, one Women's double and one mixed double.The Veterans (Men O-40 and Women's O-35), also on a team Championsh­ip, consisting one of each Men's Singles, Women's Single and Mixed double .
