Six out of ten for B.A. Sanjeewa

Sri Lanka’s leading amateur golfer currently, B. A. Sanjeewa, clearly dominated the Pin Fernando Grand Prix 2017, October edition with some scintillat­ing golf over the three round 54 holes event.

Sanjeewa fired a 7 under par first round, followed by a five under par second round and closed the October edition with an emphatic 10 under par, three round total, winning by four strokes from the consistent J M D Indika who returned three two under par rounds to secure the runner- up berth. Sanjeewa stretched his Grand Prix monthly edition wins to Six out of 10 played so far in the CAT SOLAR powered Grand Prix Ratings 2017.

Sanjeewa further emphasised his position at the top of the Grand Prix Rankings collecting 400 points out of a maximum of 450 available in the three round October edition. J M D Indika proved his consistenc­e returning three rounds of two under par each to clinch second place on six under par, whilst another senior leading amateur Amarapadma secured the third place with 214.

The top players are well geared up and ready to clinch the 130th Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championsh­ip 2017 coming up in October from the 14th. The 36 hole final is scheduled for the 19th October 2017. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh comprise the internatio­nal challenge and Sri L a n k a wo n the Championsh­ip last in 2012 when N.
