Education that is skilled focused and not based on mere Theory

-

Dr. Alan Robertson, Dean of Studies, Nawaloka C o l l e ge of Higher Studies said that in Education in general, there will have to be more emphasis on skills rather than theory. “In the past education was more theory based. However now, education has to be based on the needs of the industry. This is the trend for the future,” he stated. He further said that over the past years, careers have changed drastically. “The change in careers has to be reflected in education. The education need must change to meet the modern needs.”

What makes the programs at NCHSunique is the relevance of the learning to the practical aspect of the subject. Swinburne has gained a reputation of being an ‘ Industryengaged, industry-informed’ university. The curriculum and teaching methodology has been designed to be relevant to the needs of the industry. Through the carefully designed curriculum, it was stated that the graduates who are produced are highly employable as they have the skill sets that are required for the world of work.

“The material, course content that is available at NCHS is exactly the same to what is offered at Swinburne. The preparation that the student receives while in Sri Lanka therefore preps the student to fit into the Australian environment with considerable ease” Dr. Robertson explained.
