‘Red and White October Breeze ‘ by St. Paul’s Milaririya- PPA

‘Red and White October Breeze 2017’, a grand Sing- along concert organized by the Past Pupils Associatio­n of St. Paul’ Girls School, Milagiriya, will come alive on Friday, on 13th October at Ramada Hotel starting from 6.30pm.

The Sing-a-long will feature Annesley Malawana with his band Super Chimes. Annesley, who celebrated his 50 years of Music last year, will dish out the favourites of 60’s, 70’s and 80’s era music, both Sinalese and English with audience participat­ion.

The Sing-a-long is organised as the main fund raiser to keep the developmen­t projects moving forward in aid of St. Paul’s Milagiriya.

Tickets are priced at Rs2500/ per head which includes dinner and cocktails.

‘SPM is the only leading Colombo national school which does not have space for a sport ground. The government has funded Rs. 90m to build a four- story sport complex for which we have laid the foundation stone. The revenue collected from different fund raising projects have already been channeled toward this and ‘Red and White October Breeze 2017’ is the latest fund raiser for this project’ explained Mrs. S. S. Silva, the event coordinato­r for this Sing-along session.

Renovation of Primary section, which was damaged by lightning was another project completed by the PPA with the help of government grants for the renovation. In addition government also funded to renovate children’s play area.

‘Poly tunnel’ project was reestablis­hed and was recognized as the best poly tunnel by Director of Agricultur­e of Western Province. Garbage dumping area was turned into botanical garden which is maintained by A/L Bio class. ‘APM Old Girls Associatio­n in Australia helped to renovate the Library building partially and the rest will be completed soon’ she added.

A past pupil contribute­d a time table software which has enabled to monitor work done by teachers which helps to enhance the quality of education provided.

The Health ministry has recently recognized SPM as a dengue free zone.
