KDU wins - CISCO Hackathon IoT 2017

Cisco Networking Academy Hackathon competitio­n 2017 was opened for all the students of Sri Lanka in the age group of 14-30. There were 2500 students registered for the first round and 100 students from 20 teams have been selected for the final round.

The final competitio­n was held on 25th and 26th of September 2017. The competitor­s had to develop a solution with IoT technology for garbage management and 10 hours of time period were allowed for the task. The first task was completed by 6.00 pm on the first day and the panel completed their evaluation of prototype by 10.30 pm. The second day was scheduled to present their solutions explaining the viability of the product they developed in a commercial environmen­t.

After a lengthy two rounds of hard-fought competitio­n, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University emerged as the winner and Sri Lanka Institute of Informatio­n Technology became the 1st runnerup. The 2nd runner-up was a team from the University of Moratuwa.
