Madhawa Herath is a Chartered Electronic­s and Telecommun­ications Engineer with over a decade of experience in the private sector. Armed with an MBA from Postgradua­te Institute of Management and University of Sri Jayewarden­apura. He is currently reading for his Phd in Field Operations Management.

As a Visiting Lecturer at SLIIT he covers key areas such as Project Management, Electrical & Electronic­s Telecommun­ication, Technology Management, Corporate Strategy Leadership and Human Capital, Operation Management etc. Presently he is the principal consultant Global Eye Internatio­nal, a consultati­on, training and knowledge partner for internatio­nal certificat­ions. impact on the education sector in general. SLIIT has made great strides through technologi­cal tools creating a paperless classroom and a multi-dimensiona­l learning environmen­t,” he observed.

Together with SLIIT Management and faculty, Herath also plays a key role in organizing the annual ‘Young Engineerin­g Expo’ showcasing student talent. “The main objective of organising the annual event is to provide students not only a platform to demonstrat­e their innovation­s but also an opportunit­y to meet with industry specialist­s and experts and build networks to carve out a future career path,” he noted.

Through SLIIT’s full-fledged Learning Management Systems (LMS),students can access all lecture materials via their handheld devices and submit tutorials online and check feedback.SLIIT’s interactiv­e teaching and learning environmen­t also helps prepare for their lectures well in advance.

As an industry practition­er Herath stresses the importance of practical experience and knowledge transfer between allied industries. “At SLIIT we always make practical engineers who can go beyond and make something to uplift society. We want to make them ready so that they engage with the industry.This is very essential in Sri Lanka where they can adapt to the culture as fast as possible and from the very first day on the ground start working,” he concluded.
