Foundation Awards will pave the way towards becoming world-class graduates

The Foundation Awards ceremony of the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) was held recently at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI), Colombo 7.

Over 100 students that had successfully completed the Foundation Certificate in Higher Education offered by IIT were felicitated at the Foundation Awards which was held for the 11th consecutive year.

The Chief Guest, Thilan Warnakulage who is an alumnus of IIT and current Director - Professional Services & Technical Knowledge Management for Zone24x7 graced the occasion.

The Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe Gold Award for Academic Excellence was awarded to Sumudu Tharaka Mohottige and Ihan Dilnath Lelwala who topped the January and September intake batches respectively for the Foundation programme.

All students had successfully completed the Foundation Certificate in Higher Education will be eligible to follow BEng (Hons) Software Engineering, BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems, BA (Hons) Business Management, BSc (Hons) Computer Science with specialization pathways in Mobile and Web Computing, Games and Computer Graphics Development or Multimedia Computing internal degree programmes from University of Westminster, UK.

IIT offers a unique opportunity for students soon after A/L and O/L to follow world renowned internal British degrees. The Foundation Programme in IT and Business will cater to students who are unable to enter a local university as a result of the limited admission and for those who wish to commence their higher education just after O/L. The one year Foundation Programme is designed to fast-track students to obtain their internal British degree.
