‘361’ to unravel the truth behind media

-

“Thunsiya Heta- eka” ‘ 361’, Udayasiri Wickremaratne’s newest stage play will go on the boards at 6.45 pm on December 10 at the New Art Theatre (air conditioned) in Colombo University.

With the tagline ‘truth is larger than the small screen’, the stage play deals with the people who sit in front of television and plan to change the existing social, political and economic systems.

‘ 361’ discusses the issue how mass media which is supposedly dedicated to bring the truth to the people contributes in concealing and distancing the truth from the people in a society which also overestimates the power of media. ‘361’ deals with the naivety and shallowness of the people who sit in a chair in their living room and believe they can change the course of politics through engaging with what appears on a TV screen.
