National off loads among the runs

Milinda and Kavindu guide SSC

SSC's national offloads dominated proceeding­s on day one and continued to harass the Saracens SC bowlers on day two as the overnight pair of Milinda Siriwarden­a and Kavindu Kulasekera sent the bowlers on a leather hunt in the morning session of play in their Premier Tier A cricket encounter played at the SSC ground.

Milinda who was unbeaten on 103 added a further 34 runs to remain unbeaten on 137 which had eight boundaries and seven sixes while Kavindu who was on 11 added 28 more runs as the pair put on an unbroken 87 runs for the fifth wicket. SSC resuming from their overnight score of 380 for 4 declared their innings on 444 for 4 wickets.

The opening day’s play saw openers Dimuth Karunaratn­e who cracked a 83 and Kaushal Silva giving SSC a flying start with the pair adding 96 runs. This was followed by a massive 200 runs stand for the fourth wicket. Saracens SC in their turn were 27 for no loss when play was stopped for lunch.

An unbroken 156 runs partnershi­p for the third wicket between Rumesh Buddika who was on 119 that included nine boundaries and half a dozen sixes and skipper T.N. Sampath who was on 62 saw BRC make a bold reply of 231 for 2 just before the tea break on day two in the match played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake. This was in reply to Chilaw Marians’ score of 293.

Primosh Perera along skipper Chamara Silva and Sahan Wijeratne helped Moors SC to further consolidat­e their position against CCC when play was stopped for lunch on the second day in the match played at the CCC ground.

Primosh cracked a 121 while skipper Chamara and Sahan added a valuable 76 runs for the fourth wicket for Moors SC resuming from their overnight score of 213 for 2 to go into lunch on 309 for 4.

NCC resuming from their overnight score of 125 for 2 lost three early wickets as they went into the lunch break of 176 for 5 in reply to Tamil Unions low score of 117 on day two at the NCC ground.

There was no play in the morning session in the matches between Army SC and SLPA CC at Panagoda and Colts CC against Ragama CC at the Colts ground.
