Thurstanit­e Milinda Ratnayake was adjudged the champion golfer and takeaway the Macson Mesh Trophy at the inaugural Isipathana-Thurstan Golf tie at the Ridgeways.

Weighed Ratnayake’s deeds, Thurstan also bagged the Naomal Fernando Challenge Trophy which goes to the Overall Champions.

The Inaugural Isipathana Vs Thurstan golf tourney teed off on the 10th of December 2017 at the Royal Colombo Golf course with each team fielding 8 players each.

The format for the encounter was based on stapleford points score system with the best 3 cards taken from each side to decide the overall championsh­ip.

Thurstan College with seasoned players in their ranks were stretched to the limits by the newcomers to the game Isipathana whom they beat after a scintillat­ing round of 18 holes.

Major General Rukmal Dias graced the occasion as chief guest and gave away the awards during the social held in the evening.

At the end of play, the winning recipients are as follows: 1. Best par 3 holes Winner Ravi Liyanage (Isipathana College), Closest to the pin on the 9th hole winner, Niroshan de Silva (Thurstan College) Best on the hidden holes, winner Anura Wimalaratn­e (Isipathana College) Longest drive on the 8th hole winner, Lukshman Sumathipal­a (Thurstan College). 2. 3. 4.
