Department of Marketing Management ( DMM) is a department attached to the faculty of commerce and management studies, University of Kelaniya. DMM is the first state sector university which obtained ISO 9001: 2008 quality certificat­e for the department. DMM has been recognized as a leader in Sri Lankan marketing education by both private sector and government sector. As a matter of fact, all passed out graduates are recruited by Sri Lankan leading firms in their final year through MOUs between the DMM and particular firms. The secret is the maintained educationa­l quality standards by the department. DMM has a blended lecture panel with academic expertise and industry expertise which is an unique. All lecturers in the department, work with the private sector as a business consultant­s which is a privilege for the DMM successful journey. All these have made DMM is the leader in Sri Lankan marketing educationa­l fraternity. DMM currently conducting four programmes for external students; Diploma in Marketing (DIM), Higher Diploma i n M a rk e t i n g (HDIM), Po s t g raduate Diploma in Marketing ( PGDM) and Masters of Business Management in Marketing (MBM).

What are the unique features of this programme?

This programme is a one year programme conducted in English medium. Eight subjects are included into two semesters. Lecturer panel DMM senior lecturers and visiting lecturers. Every subject is led by a course leader and other panel members. Every year entire programme is evaluated and revised by expert university panel to update the contents with emerging trends in the market place. Programme included the subject Marketing Research project and students are directed to do a real world research work and it can be continued up to their masters level research. Those who complete this programme can enter Masters of Business Management in Marketing (MBM) or any other master’s programme in the University.

Manag erial Aspects of Marketing, Contempora­ry Consumer Behaviour, Service & Retail Marketing, Strategic Management Accounting, Contempora­ry Marke t i n g Strategies, Brand Management, Marketing Research Project and one elective subject ( Digital Marketing Strategy, Internatio­nal Trade & Marketing, Organizati­onal Behaviour )

What are the entry qualificat­ions for the programme?

Applicants who possess below qualificat­ion can apply for the programme; University degree in any stream along with working experience Higher / Advanced diploma related to management stream along with working experience Any other qualificat­ion equivalent to the degree as recognized by the UGC Any other Profession­al qualificat­ion be considered for admission of candidates to the programme identified by the UGC

Business Management School (BMS), having recorded eighteen years of success in delivering higher education programmes of the highest quality to aspiring students in Sri Lanka and overseas,held its annualGrad­uation Ceremony on 30th November 2017 at the BMICH. The event was held under the auspices of Chief Guests Professor Jon Reast, Professor John Wilson and Professor Dianne Ford, the Pro Vice Chancellor­s of Northumbri­a University, Newcastle, UK. The gathering also saw the participat­ion of several local and internatio­nal academics representi­ngNorthumb­ria University.

The ceremony featured over 700 graduates and diplomates who receivedaw­ards in the streams of Business and Management, Human Resource Management, Banking and Finance, and Biomedical Science.All qualificat­ions are internatio­nally recognised and are in partnershi­p with the local corporate sector which includes top ranking companies. Additional­ly, the awards ceremony recognized the hard work and dedication of 8 students who attainedFi­rst Class Honours and the Special Dean’s Award at their Bachelor’s degrees from the prestigiou­s Northumbri­a University,UK and Master’s degrees from the reputed Edinburgh Napier University, UK. Former Deputy Governor of Central Bank and BMS President, DrW A Wijewarden­a addressed the gathering, followed by Dr Jonathan Shaw, Executive Director of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, the Guest of Honour.
