Left arm spinner Chanaka Komasaru ended with an impressive match bag of 12 for 73, paving the way for SLPA CC to coast to an innings and 139 runs win over Badureliya CC in the Premier Tier A Inter-Club Cricket encounter concluded at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona yesterday.

The foundation for SLPA CC’s win was laid by Maduka Liyanapathiranage who made an unbeaten 115 and Prashan Wickramasinghe who made 88 enabling SLPA CC make a formidable score of 359.

In contrast Badureliya CC batsmen were not able make any impression on both the innings as they succumbed to the spin of Komasaru who ended with 6 for 34 in the first inning and 6 for 39 in the second innings to bowl them out for low scores of 105 and 115.

Centuries by Dimuth Karunaratne (which was his second successive), Chamara Kapugedera and Minod Bhanuka saw SSC amass yet another huge 459 for 8 declared in the morning session of play on day three at the SSC ground. This was in reply to CCC’s 314 runs.

A fighting knock of 152 not out by allrounder Suraj Randiv and Shashin Dilranga ( 84) added a match winning 189 for the seventh for BRC enabling them to contrive a fine first inning win over Tamil Union at the P. Sara Oval.

At one point of the BRC inning they were placed at a perilous 42 for 6 in reply to the Tamil Union first inning total of 314. BRC ended up with a first inning total of 332.

Army SC was made to dig for their runs by Chilaw Marians in the match played at the FYZ ground in Katunayake. Army SC having to erase a mammoth deficit of 385 runs were struggling at 154 for 5.

Bloomfield too has already taken a first innings lead over Moors SC in the match being played at Reid Avenue.
