Message from the Chairman, Packaging Development Centre

As the Chairman of the Packaging Development Centre it gives me great pleasure to send this message on the occasion of Asia Star/ Lanka Awards Night where winners of Asia Star 2017 and Lanka Star 2017 contests will be presented with their Trophies and Certificates.

Asia Star Awards Contests for Excellence in Packaging was inaugurated in late Nineteen sixties while Lanka Star Contest was inaugurated in 1987 in conjunction with the first APF Annual Event hosted by the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging in that year. Both Asia Star and Lanka star Contests were started as biennial events and as its popularity increased the Asian Packaging Federation and the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging had decided to make these annual events and in Sri Lanka the Lanka Star Awards Night has become one of the most celebrated events in the corporate calendar of Sri Lanka.

As the Chairman of the “APF Annual Events 2017” committee and the Lanka Star Awards Contest Committee it is my duty to thank the members of the committees, the well- wishers who have come forward to sponsor these events and on various ways to make these a success
