"Texstyle 2017"
"Texstyle 2017" is the annual Graduating Fashion Exhibition of the Department of Textile & Apparel Technology (Faculty of Engineering) The Open University of Sri Lanka which was held on the 20th and 21st of December 2017 at the JDA gallery, Colombo 7 .This is the second year of the exhibition where Open University design undergraduates presented their creative work under different con- cepts & Themes.The inspirations for their work had been derived through the ideas of sustainability and the current social and economical contexts.There was a synergy between high and low apparel technology in their work that blends with creativity and craftsmanship. Both graduating students and other undergraduates showcased their work. The exhibition represented various scopes and avenues of fashion in the design industry . The collection revealed the ability of students to deliver a right prod- uct, to a significant market segment through the product development process. Further at the opening ceremony the Vice Chancellor of the Open University Prof.S.A Ariadurai mentioned that this degree is the only fashion design degree delivered through the open and distance education model in Sri Lanka. As a pioneer this exhibition is full proof that the Open University has overcome challenges and successfully, delivered employable graduates and entrepreneurs.
