‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ Super spies back in action

Latest Bollywood action thriller ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (Tiger is Alive), a sequel to the record-breaking blockbuste­r ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ is now being screened in theatres in Colombo.The film starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Sajjad Delfrooz in lead roles continues the story of two super spies Tiger and Zoya eight years later. Other supporting roles are played by Angad Bedi, Kumud Mishra, Nawab Shah, Girish Karnad and Paresh Rawal.

Made sequel to the 2012 film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’,the film is based on the 2014 abduction of Indian nurses by ISIL.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the Indian action thriller revolves around Indian RAW agent Avinash “Tiger” Singh Rathore and Pakistani spy Zoya reunite after eight years to rescue captured nurses by the ISIL.Filming locations of the film include Morocco, Austria and beautiful Alps .

Veteran filmmaker Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne’s much awaited movie ‘Yashodhara’ will be released for the Vesak festival this year. ‘Bimbhadevi’ alias ‘Yashodhara’ is the 22nd film directed by Prof. Ariyaratne who is famed for his earlier directions like ‘Sarungale’, ‘Anupama’, ‘Siribo Aiya’, ‘Uppalawann­a’ and ‘Sudu Sevanali’. The new film story woven around the beloved wife of Siddhartha will be released in 70 EAP circuit theatres in last week of April in simultaneo­us to the 2018 Vesak festival. The main roles of Siddhartha and Yashodhara are played by two Indian stars A. Chowdhury and Pallavi Subash and the film is produced by H. D. Premasiri. Even though there is a lot of literature on the real life of Siddhartha, one can hardly find on ‘Yashodara’. The most available piece of literature on Yashodara is ‘Lady of the Lotus’ written by William Edmund Barrett was released in 1975. Yet it is only a fictionali­sed biography of the wife of Buddha. However Prof. Ariyaratne made his film based on ‘Yashodhara­wa’ written by Ven. Ganegama Saranankar­a thera. The title role ‘Yashodara’ played by Pallavi Subash hails from Maharashtr­a Province has performed in more than 12 Marathi films. However she became one of the most sort after stars following her role as Dharma in ‘Chakrawart­hi Ashoka’ tele series. Rukmini the character she played in mythologic­al series
