4-star hotel at BIA

-

The Government has invited proposals from prospective investors to establish and operate an airport hotel at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

The Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd wants to build a star class hotel at BIA for airline crew, airline passengers, off-loaded passengers, transit passengers and other airport users, according to a notice by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC).

The closing date for the request for proposals (RFP) is January 25. A pre-bid meeting followed by a site visit took place this week.

A three-acre AASL land located right opposite the airport premises has been identified and reserved for the development of this hotel. It will be leased out to the successful investor for 40 years, renewable for a further period depending on the performance of the project and subject to new terms and conditions mutually agreed upon by AASL and the investor.

The notice says the hotel should preferably consist of a minimum of 100 well-appointed rooms, sports and recreation facilities, a business centre, conference and convention facilities and other relevant facilities that could match or exceed specified standards of a four- star hotel in accordance with Sri Lanka Tourism Regulations and Guidelines.

Each proposal should come with a bid security of Rs. 2 million as an irrevocable and unconditional bank guarantee issued by a local bank recognised by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka or a guarantee issued by a foreign bank operating in Sri Lanka.
