- By M. Shamil Amit

Wesley opening Hasith Geesara was unfortunate to miss out on a ton by three runs as the Campbell Park lads almost went for tit- for- tat run chase against St. Joseph’s at Darley Road, yesterday.

Geesara (97) and Akmeemana (67) put on an impressive opening stand of 154 runs as they went on the hunt in reply to the massive Josephian total of 393 for 2 declared. At one point it looked as if the Wesleyites were on target in their Bryan Claessen - Arthur Hakel Memorial Trophy inter-school cricket encounter.

Wesley continuing from their overnight score of 72 for 0 was on 254 for 5 in reply to the Josephians massive score of 393 for 2 declared, yesterday.

The Josephian total came on the back of two solid tons made by Revan Kelly ( 182) and Nipun Sumanasinghe ( 152 n. o.) yesterday. They were associated in a record 314 runs stand for the second wicket and the partnership is a record for any wicket made by a Josephian pair against
