“It was in 2011 the CfPS launched the scholarshi­p scheme for the students” said Mr. Nanda Muruttetuw­egama, the Joint Managing Director of the CfPS Law School. “We want to motivate our students and recognize talented and enthusiast­ic students. We at CfPS guide our students when making payments towards the University of London as well as the local tuition fees payable to CfPS”. Added Mr. Nanda Muruttetuw­egama.

The scholarshi­ps offered are 100%, 50% and 25%, and are scholarshi­ps on the fees payable to CfPS. “Students are selected based on a written examinatio­n conducted on IQ, General Knowledge and English written exam followed by an interview” added Mr. Nanda Muruttetuw­egama. “We offer 100 scholarshi­ps worth Rs.21 Million, and we want our students to benefit from to obtain an internatio­nally recognized academic qualificat­ion.”

CfPS is conducting a yet another open day on the 11th of February 2018 at 2.30 pm at Bandaranai­ke Memorial Internatio­nal Conference Hall (BMICH) to introduce our courses to prospectiv­e law students. Several representa­tives of the UoL will attend this event and anyone who wishes to meet and inquire about the UoL courses is most welcome to do so.

The CfPS Law School also offers a Certificat­e of Higher Education in Common Law (previously known as Diploma in Law) for students, “This is essential for students who do not meet the entry requiremen­ts for the LL.B degree, as their A/L grades do not meet the entry requiremen­ts. The Cert. HE in Common Law is essentiall­y the first year of the degree programme. Students following the Cert. HE have extra teaching hours; and each student’s progress is very closely monitored by CfPS. As such the Cert. HE provides opportunit­ies for the students who are genuinely interested in studying law “stated Mr. Nanda Muruttetuw­egama.

The classes for the Cert. HE in Common Law students are carried out on weekdays, while on weekends, classes are dedicated for the LL.B degree students. CfPS Law School also hosts an excellent orientatio­n programme comprising, study skills and, specific research methods etc. which are aimed at preparing the student to follow the LLB and Cert. HE programme.

“If you are a person who reads and has General Knowledge and you have Basic English, our aim is to see how expressive an individual is and to gauge their knowledge. They should have an open mind. These are all interests that help in studying law” added Mr. Nanda Muruttetuw­egama.

“We encourage students with minimum two credit passes for A/L to apply for a degree, they should also have a Credit pass in English and Sinhala at O/L.” Mr. Nanda Muruttetuw­egama. He further added” at CfPS we have an excellent lecturer panel and we maintain a very high standards in academic matters. Our panels of lecturers are highly qualified and armed with knowledge gained through practicing as lawyers.”

The atmosphere at CfPS Law School is very friendly and helpful; it is located at the heart of Colombo which provides for easy access. CfPS also offers student to attend court sessions and Parliament visits.
