Bloomfield reply strongly to CCC’s mammoth score

CCC having ended day one with a score of 380 for 6 went on to amass a mammoth score of 445 against Bloomfield in the morning session of play in their Premier League Tier A match at Reid Avenue.

CCC’s score came on the back of a career best knock of 168 off 118 by Sachith Pathirana. He hit 19 boundaries and eight sixes.

Pathirana along with Madawa Warnapura who made 85 rescued the side with a massive 231-run partnershi­p for the sixth wicket when they were back to the walls on 89 for 4.

Bloomfield in their turn was making steady progress with the openers Nipun Karunanaya­ke and Nisal Fransisco at the wicket having so far added 101 runs.

Ragama CC continued their domination against Moors SC in the match played at Braybrooke Place. Ragama CC continuing from their overnight score of 358 for 7 went on to make 380 and then had Moors SC struggling on 164 for 6.

In the match between SLPA CC and NCC at FTZ Katunayake SLPA were cruising smoothly in pursuit of a victory target of 220 runs.

NCC who posted back to back outright wins, has suffered a major set back losing outright to Army SC last week and now are on the verge of their second outright defeat.

Though SLPA has the advantage, the match could go either way. NCC batsmen put in a pathetic batting performanc­es in both innings. They were bowled out for 220 and 120. SLPA left with a victory target of 220 runs was on 48 for 0 just before the tea break.

There was a clean tussle going on between Group B t able l eaders Chilaw Marians and Tamil Union at P. Sara Stadium.

The second day’s proceeding­s saw Tamil Union from their overnight score of 296 for 9 going on to make 305 and Chilaw Marians in reply was on 221 for 6.

Colts CC and Badureliya CC have already taken a first innings lead against Saracens SC and Army SC in the matches played at the Colts ground and Surrey Village ground in Maggona.
