Richard Pieris Chairman Dr Yaddehige reveals his plans for 2018

At a recent media briefing, Richard Pieris & Company PLC Chairman Dr Sena Yaddehige stated that the conglomera­te plans to invest in several unique projects in the next three years. Included among these projects is the manufactur­ing of electric cars, lithium batteries and Oud perfume in Sri Lanka. Richard Pieris & Company PLC plans to invest between Rs 15 to 20 billion in these projects.

The afore mentioned lithium battery factory also complement­s Dr Yaddehige’s plans to introduce the four- door electric car in Sri Lanka. An 80 acre plot of land has already been purchased in line with his vision, where the factory will one day stand.

The company will also convert 68% of its plantation­s to grow wallapatta trees: its resin is used to manufactur­e the most expensive Oud perfume available in the world. Dr Yaddehige revealed that the company is currently working to inoculate a certain fungus which is vital for the process.

Yet another project involves extracting the flavour and essence of tea and marketing a green tea product, which has already been launched in Las Vegas earlier.

The 25th Arpico Supercentr­e has been also opened at Talawatuga­da and the three storeyed, 60,000 sqft biggest Supercentr­e will be opened in Kegalle in February .Arpico Supercentr­es will also be opened in Katugastot­a, Kundasale, Moratuwa and Wattala.
