- An Advertising Supplement

GCE ( Advanced Level) examination is the toughest hurdle in the Sri Lankan education system. The main reason for this examination to be considered the biggest challenge in a students’ life is the difficulty of getting placements in a state university. Coming first in such a challenging circumstance cannot be considered a small feat. This truth has made Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka to walk a further step in appreciating two students who have come first in their respective subject streams. Knowing that the media glory that encircles these high achievers is short lived and dies down fast leaving no trace, CMA has taken measures to present them with things that would last and help add value to their lives.

Brand Ambassador and Promotional Ambassador

stream and Dilini Sandunika Palihakkara of the same school who achieved highest marks in the Bio-Science stream were doubly blessed when they were picked up to receive special rec- ognition of the CMA. Both were awarded fully loaded scholarships to study for CMA examinations. CMA Sri Lanka is of the opinion that achievers of this caliber need to be given due prominence and set as examples for the next generation of students. In this light,

DulaniRasanthika was awarded with the Brand Ambassadorship of the CMA, Sri Lanka while DiliniSandunika was bestowed the Promotional Ambassadorship. Both students will support CMA to promote management accountancy education in Sri Lanka.

Extremely pleased for becoming Brand Ambassador of CMA, DulaniRasanthika says that she considers CMA scholarship as an additional blessing that would make her professionally qualified as well, by the time she comes out of university as a graduate. According to her, the CMA Brand Ambassadorship is an unanticipated honor that would provide her the opportunity to take the message of CMA management accounting education through to her fellow students enabling them to find success in their lives whether they enter university or not.

DiliniSandunika who would no doubt enter a medical faculty with her outstanding results, is determined to make use of the scholarship and study management accounting.

She happily says that CMA qualification would give her management capabilities that would be useful in the future as many medical doctors are holding management positions in state and private sectors. She further says that regardless of the subject stream one follows at the GCE Advanced Level, management accounting is a good option for a student who enters the university system of fails to secure a place in it. Advanced Level in Sri Lanka According to Statistics issued by the Department of Statics of Sri Lanka, around 250,000 students sit for the Advanced Level examination ( http:// www. statistics. gov. lk 2012-2016). Although around 60 per cent of them become eligible to enter university, only 17-18 per cent of the eligible lot get university placements. The rest of them, are left to find other avenues of higher education or work.

After A Levels CMA is Easy and Good

CMA, Sri Lanka offers one of the most recognized accounting qualification in Sri Lanka at a cost affordable for majority of students who seek further education after Advanced Level examination. CMA received the status of the national management accounting body of Sri Lanka by being incorporated by an Act of Parliament and operates under the purview of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Entry Qualifications

Students would be eligible to register to follow CMA management accountancy examination with just three passes obtained at the GCE (Advanced Level) examination.

CMA has identified and addressed factors that are discouraging students from following management accountancy. One such is the dread of the English language which is the medium of most of further education courses. Students could opt to follow and answer first two levels of CMA in the language they are comfortable in. They could improve their English language skills with the help of the Business English Subject included in Level I and II by the time they reach Level III which is mandatory to sit in English.

As tuition for CMA is provided by approved tuition providers with highly qualified teachers around the country, students can follow classes while attending university or any other higher education or while working.

Registration will close on 31st January 2018.
