Visakha Nursery is one of the oldest & long standing Buddhist Nursery Schools in Colombo founded by Mrs. Jeremias Dias. Its present Chairman is Dr. Tissa Cooray, under whose guidance Visakha Nursery has grown from strength to strength. Dr. Tissa Cooray is ably supported by a distinguis­hed panel of Educationi­sts on the Board.

Its Present Principal Mrs. Chyshanthi Lewke who is well qualified in the field of Education equipped with a Degree in Education Management Heads the School as its Principal. The School consists of a set of well qualified & experience­d Teachers on its staff who support the Principal. Visakha Nursery under the guidance of its present Principal during the last 10 years has achieved much and grown tremendous­ly & reached high standards by focussing on developing of learning skills, grooming and preparing the child for year 1 by stimulatin­g curiosity, taking a structured approach to solving problems & inculcatin­g respect towards others. As children progress from section to section each year they are provided with challenges appropriat­e for their age. Values such as compassion, respect & manners are an integral part of the school ethos.

Last year in 2016 Visakha Nursery was selected as the most outstandin­g Nursery from the entire western Province by the western Province Education Ministry For the Last 5 consecutiv­e years including this year (2018) it has always been a student of Visakha Nursery who has delivered the welcome address, welcoming the Year 1 students at Royal College, for that particular year.
