The Horizon Campus will be building on the success of a record turn-out at its last Open Day, with another event on January 27, 2018. The event will give interested students, their parents and teachers from across all regions of Sri Lanka the chance to explore the university’s facilities, meet current students and staff, learn more about the range of courses on offer, and have their questions on higher education and job market opportunit­ies.

Horizon Campus, the most highly accredited non- state university in Sri Lanka offers, a Diploma on Biotechnol­ogy along with a degree on B. Sc. ( Hons) in Biotechnol­ogy awarded by Nilai University, Malaysia. Currently, the student numbers top 200 in the Faculty of Science alone. At present Horizon, Science faculty students are engaged in their internship­s at reputed companies.

Ganguli Ariyawansa, a student of Horizon Campus following the Diploma in Biotechnol­ogy expressed her view on Campus. “I am currently completing my internship at a leading Food and Beverage Company. I enrolled at Horizon Campus, after completing my G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examinatio­n with distinctio­n passes for all subjects. Excellent facilities available at Horizon Campus have always inspired me to perform my best in both academic and extra- curricular activities. Horizon Campus always provides well- designed coursework with a supportive learning environmen­t where sports and many other extra- curricular activities are available. The Campus is well-equipped with a team of highly dedicated and qualified lecturers who are passionate about imparting their knowledge to students. Their commitment­s to the students have guided many students to greater heights. It may be academics or sports or cultural events, Horizon Campus always supports students in their endeavors. I am very thankful to Horizon Campus for grooming our personalit­ies with knowledge and confidence, and also for bringing a new dimension into my life”.

Nathashiya Sumanaseke­ra, another student currently engaged in internship shared her views as, “My experience at Horizon Campus has been unforgetta­ble from the start! I can proudly say that Horizon has made me a better person. The Campus has helped me develop a positive attitude towards my studies and discover more about myself. When considered in academic life, we get to learn a variety of subjects ranging from science-related subjects to business-related subjects. The lecturers are very caring and make sure every student is on the right path. What I like most about Horizon Campus is that although its main focus is on studies, students on their free time can do any sport they’re interested in. Additional­ly, there are events organized by the Student Council in which we get to show our talents. The facilities, environmen­t and the resources at Horizon Campus are outstandin­g. Finally, all what I can say is that I’m lucky to be part of the Horizon Family”

Registrati­ons are now open for the 9th Intake for Diploma and Bachelors of Sciences (Hons) in Biotechnol­ogy. With a limited number of seats available still, there’s an opportunit­y for Science enthusiast who wishes to take the challenges in Biotechnol­ogy and accomplish­ing their dream to become future Scientists.

To witness and explore the holistic environmen­t of the Horizon Campus premises the Open Day would be the perfect opportunit­y. Plus, senior students will also be available for the freshers to share their experience.

In addition, Horizon Campus Student Council and The Nature Beyond Horizon (NatBeHo) will present their broad range of activities. Where students could involve to enjoy and obtain opportunit­ies to develop their skills which are required to prepare for the highly competitiv­e job market.
